About

Ik Ben Volmaakt Gelukkig is an album by the Dutch cabaret group Neerlands Hoop in Bange Dagen, released in 1978. The album features Bram Vermeulen on keyboards and guitar, Freek de Jonge on drums, and Jan de Hont on guitar. Some of the music on the album has been compared to new-wave bands, with tracks like "Te Vroeg", "God wat ben ik blij" and the title track featuring driving rhythm guitar and tribal-sounding drums. Other songs, such as "Doe Maar" and "Kauwgom", are reminiscent of outtakes from the Low sessions. The lyrics are often humorous, but some songs, like "God wat ben ik blij" are more serious.

Recording Info

Recorded at Kasteel De Nemerlaer, Haaren (NB) in April 1978. Engineered at EMI Studios, Heemstede. Produced by Eddy Hilberts.

Significance

The album is considered a well-sounding and varied record that foreshadowed the Nederpop genre. Some moments still sound remarkably fresh and vital.
